Biography
John "Jack" Cuthbert Williams was born January 5, 1931 in Califronia to John Chilton Williams and Aline M. Cuthbert. Williams married Geroldine Elane Chindgren of Boise, Idaho on Jauary 30, 1954. After earning a Forestry degree from Oregon State University, Williams served two years in the United States Army as a paraptrooper, then went on to study photopgraphy at Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara in 1959. Williams and Chindgren moved to Boise in the 1950s, where Williams began a commercial photography studio. Williams and Chindgren divorced in 1970, and Williams moved to Ketchum, Idaho in 1977.
Williams operated a gallery in Ketchum, and continued his photography career until the early 2000s. He was an active member in the Ketchum community, regularly serving in the role of Santa Claus in holiday events, and was elected Grand Marshall in the Wagon Days parade in 2018. Williams died in Ketchum on May 21, 2021.
