Biographical / Historical
John Neilson Barry was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, on November 26, 1870 and spent most of his childhood in Norfolk and Warrenton, Virginia. He spent two years in the cotton business but became an Episcopal priest in 1895. He ministered in various places, including Washington state and Oregon. Upon his retirement in 1922, he moved to Portland, Oregon and dedicated himself to historical research and writing on Pacific Northwest history.

5 Volumes (Five handmade and bound booklets on Northwest expeditions that focus on Lewis and Clark, the Astor Expedition, and the Northwest Company.) : Books are somewhat fragile. Two pages have come away from one booklet. some pages are blackened, and handwritten note on No. 5 indicates, "This has been in a fire."
