Folder 9: Diary entries, January 1, 1933 to December 31, 1934
Summary
This collection consists of the typscript diaries of Reverend William Judson Boone, beginning February 18, 1891 and ending July 7, 1936, the day before his death. The diary entries reflect Caldwell life, his work in education, personal details, and news of the day. Most entries are brief. Boone was born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania on November 5, 1860 to James Boone and Nancy Craighead. He married Annie Elizabeth Jamison and graduated from the Western Theological Seminary as well as from the University of Wooster in 1887. He and his new wife moved to Caldwell in November that same year. He was a presbyterian minister in Caldwell for several years, until he helped organize and found the College of Idaho, becoming its first president in 1891. He continued to serve as its president until his death on July 8, 1936. He and Annie had four children: Marie (1889-1911), James Louden (1891-1961), Sarah Boone Carter (1897-1958), and Margaret (1904-1998).
