Background
In 1909 the Idaho Nurses Association (INA) was organized by and for registered nurses as a voluntary, non-profit professional association. Members of INA are automatically members of a local district, the American Nurses Association, and the International Council of Nurses.
As stated in the INA Bylaws, the Purpose of the Association shall be to foster high standards of nursing practice, promote the professional educational advancement of nurses, and promote the welfare of nurses to the end that all people may have better nursing care.
The history of the Idaho Nurses Association was gathered and arranged in order by the members of the Historian Committee during the years 1984-1988: Mary Alice Devine (RN), Lucille LeRoy (RN), Beth Carpenter (RN), Verlene Kaiser (RN), Liny Lyss (RN), and Joan Paradis (RN). Under the direction of INA Staff Members: Nancy Leslie, Executive Director and Linda Packard, Executive Secretary.
