Biographical Note
Abbott was born in Hailey, Idaho in 1922. He spent his childhood on his family's ranch between the towns of Pine and Featherville. Later, he attended schools in Mountain Home and Boise. During World War II he joined the Navy. Afterwards, he worked for Boeing in Seattle as an aeronautical engineer. His mother, Estella Montgomery Abbot grew up in Rupert, Idaho. Abbott's father, Foley Orlando Abbot, served a stint in Europe during World War I, ranched at Pine, and then retired with Estella in Mountain Home.
