Biographical Note
Erwin Schwiebert was employed at the College of Idaho and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Idaho Council of Churches and the United Methodist Church. Schwiebert served as a Republican State legislator for nealry ten years (1943-52), part of that time he was the House floor majority leader. He ran twice unsuccessfully for U.S. Congress in 1954 and 1962. He was interested in right-wing and left-wing extremism and collected literature of many extremist groups, primarily during the 1950s and 1970s.
