Cloah Sebastian Cowling collection
Summary
This collection contains the contents of two scrapbooks of clippings and other research materials related to Idaho history. An unbound copy of Cowlings memoir of living in Idaho, "The Land of Sunrise Mountains" is included with research materials interleaved in the text. A third scrapbook contains obituaries of pioneers, friends, and relatives collected by Cloah Sebastian Cowling. The author prepared a partial handwritten index to the obituaries.

Biographical Note
Cloah Sebastian Cowling was born on October 21, 1886 in Grangeville, Idaho. Her parents were Idaho pioneers and she grew up on farms near Grangeville. Cloah Sebastian became a school teacher and married M. Otto Cowling on May 13, 1919 in Grangeville. The couple moved to Gooding, Idaho where they farmed for two years before returning to Grangeville. In 1923 they relocated to Greenleaf where Mr. Cowling operated a dairy until moving to Caldwell in 1946. Cloah Sebastian Cowling was a member of the local, state and national Grange, the Rebekah Lodge and Native Daughters of Idaho.
