Russell E. Edlefsen scrapbooks
Summary
This collection contains six scrapbooks, primarily newspaper clippings. In addition there are some black and white photoprints, programs and correspondence. The clippings are all related to then-current events in Boise. According to the donor, Edlefsen's secretary clipped news articles each morning to be placed in the scrapbooks. Each scrapbook is housed in a flat box.

Biographical Note
Russell E. Edlefsen (1906-1986) served four terms as mayor of Boise. He began his career working for Morrison-Knudsen Construction Company and then the Idaho Department of Highways. When he was elected mayor in 1951, he was granted a leave of absence from the Highway Department. As mayor he expanded the city's recreation facilities, such as swimming pools and tennis courts, and acquired Bogus Basin Ski area. He served as president of the Association of Idaho Cities and was active in numerous civic organizations. He returned to the Highway Department in 1959 after completing his final term as mayor.
