General Note
George Huebner was a long-time resident of Idaho, and was active in the legal profession and various Masonic groups in southern Idaho. Huebner was born March 29, 1879 in Eau Clare, Wisconsin.
In 1904 Huebner graduated from University of Minnesota Law School. He served as chief clerk at the Idaho State Penitentiary from 1905-1909. During this time, Huebner transcribed the confession of Harry Orchard, who confessed to assassinating former Governor Frank Steunenberg and having committed several other murders.
Huebner practiced law in Boise from 1910 until 1917, when he moved his practice to Emmett. From 1938 to 1963 Huebner served as city attorney for Emmett, and was considered an authority on municipal law.
In addition to his professional life, Huebner was a member of several masonic organizations, including the St. Michael's Conclave Red Cross of Constantine, Emmett Shrine Club, El Korah Shrine Temple, Grand Commandery of Idaho, and the Royal Arch Masons. Huebner died on November 16, 1972, at the age of 93.
