Historical Note
Zonta International is a service organization of women in business and the professions to advance the lega, social, and economic status of women. Zonta International was organized November 8, 1919 in Buffalo, NY with nine original chapters. Articles of Incorporation were filed in 1922. Since then, chapters opened across the world.
The Zonta Club of Boise, the first Idaho chapter was organized on April 21, 1953 and is part of District VIII (Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington). Since February 1989, the club also admits men. The chapter is committed to improve the educational, cultural, and civic needs of Boise and Ada County. Among the club's community activities, club members work with young women toward educational excellence through its Z-Club organization.
