Biographical Note
Arthur H. Hays was born on September 14, 1881 in Indiana. He married Florence Pruitt in Greencastle in 1905. After finising their studies at DePauw University, Arthur Hays accepted a teaching assignment in Idaho in 1910. The couple moved to Kuna, then Bruneau, and eventually to Boise in 1925. Hays received a Master's degree from the University of Idaho 1928 and became a social science and economics teacher at Boise High School. In addition to teaching, he was also a publsihed historian and banquet speaker. After he retired from Boise High in 1952, he accepted the directorship of the prison educational program. Hays died August 1, 1958.

Collection is divided into three sections: 1) Arthur H. Hay's personal papers and manuscripts and personal and school photographs, 2) Religious letters, which belonged to his father Samuel Marian Hays, a Methodist minister, and 3) Biographical sketches of approximately 100 residents of the Kuna area, brief histories of community institutions and life in Kuna, and newspaper clippings and notes regarding Kuna.
