Historical Note
The Business Women's Club of Boise's first meeting was held June 25, 1919 and was incorporated January 6, 1922. The original officers were as follows: President-M. Snowden Reed, Commission of Club Records-Florence Andrew, Commissioner of Membership-Sophie L. Boellert, Commissioner of Finance-Angeline F. Mahan, Commissioner of Publicity-Eva Hunt Dockery.
The Boise Business and Professional Women's Club became members of the national organization on October 14, 1919.
The Boise Business and Professional Women's Club was established to elevate the standards in business and the professions. The club promoted the interests of business and professional women, as well as stimulating local and state organizations. The club also extended opportunities to business and professional women through education.
The club sponsored local and state beauty pageants and hosted noted authors to speak at meetings. Political issues were discussed at the meetings, especially those that pertained to women's issues. In addition, the club supported a theater group named The Moroni Olsen Players.
