Idaho Poachers Club records

The Poachers Club was started in the mid-1930s by key figures in the 1938 initiative that established the Idaho Fish and Game Commission and the Idaho Fish and Game Department providing for the professionalization of wildlife management in Idaho. Membership has generally come from among professional men in Boise and the state and federal agencies responsible for wildlife management and land conservation. The Poachers Club members have a long and honorable history of conservation and wildlife management; most are devoted sportsmen, and many have made substantial contributions to Idaho’s Citizens Against Poaching and efforts to save the White Clouds Wilderness and Silver Creek. Today the Poachers have evolved into a social brotherhood who meet regularly and adhere to an annual calendar of celebratory events. The Poachers Club is a unique organization; a social comradery that is dedicated to perpetuating a tradition committed to the conservation of the natural beauty and resources of Idaho.
