Biographical Note
Representative Ruby R. Stone served in the Idaho House of Representatives (Seat 17B) from 1986 to 2003 (17 years). She was appointed by Governor Dirk Kempthorne in January, 1986 to fill the seat vacated by her husband Representative Harry A. Stone after his death on January 22, 1986. Ruby Stone had participated in the political process for many years, having served as an aide to Governor Don Samuelson, and worked as a legislative attache for 15 years. She served on the House State Affairs Committee and chaired the Local Government Committee beginning in 1991. She also served on the former Commerce, Industry and Tourism Committee and served as the Sub Committee Chair of the International Trade Committee for the Department of Commerce. After her initial appointment by Governor Kempthorne in 1986, she was then re-elected every 2 years through her retirement from the Idaho Legislature in 2003.
