One scrapbook of newspaper clippings collected by Rulon Swesnson and two folders of loose photographs and documents related to his career with the State of Idaho and his involvement with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Boise.

Biographical / Historical
Rulon Swenson had a long career with the State of Idaho. Swenson served in multiple agencies in the 1950s and 1960s, including the State Insurance Fund, State Auditors, State Treasury, and State Tax Collector’s office. Swenson was appointed State Auditor by Governor Robert Smylie (1957-1959); was appointed to State Treasurer (1959-1963) to fill a vacancy after the death of Ruth G. Moon who passed away while in office; and was appointed Accountant and Statistician for the State Tax Collector’s office. In total Rulon Swenson completed a commendable 34 years of state service before he retired.
Swenson was also involved with the community and through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as Chairman of the Ada County Commissioners starting in 1964 and was a member of the Boise Chamber of Commerce. Swenson was also an active member through his church with the Boise First Ward and Boise Stake, serving on the Stake Board of Education and as Chairman of the Genealogical Committee.
