Biographical / Historical
Jesse Eckroat was born on February 4, 1871, in Iowa. He moved to Star, Idaho, in 1890, where he homesteaded property. He owned 720 acres in the Squaw Creek area. He later moved to Brownlee in Boise County. He was a long-time member of the Emmettsville Lodge 11, International Order of Odd Fellows. Eckroat was a Justice of the Peace and served as a Boise County Commissioner from 1910-1912 and as a member of the Brownlee School Board from 1920-1935. He married Belle Hill on October 10, 1897. He died on June 11, 1963.
