This collection contains approximately 100,000 photographic negatives of historic buildings, dwellings, and structures throughout the state of Idaho. These photographs were commissioned by the Idaho State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) as part of the State Historic Sites Inventory (ISHI), which consists of individual historic property records supplemented by property-specific documentation such as photographs, maps, sketches, architectural or engineering drawings, historical documents, news clippings, and other miscellaneous materials. As of 2024 the IHSI data has been combined with the Archaeological Survey of Idaho (ASI) data and is accessible through the Idaho Cultural Resources Information System (ICRIS).

The majority of photographs in this collection are on 35mm black and white film. Links have been provided for mages that are available online through ICRIS. Please contact Idaho State Archives staff for access to images not available through ICRIS.
