This collection contains 14 black and white photographic prints related to the Ellis family of the area surrounding Granite Creek and Placerville, Idaho. The Ellis family lived in, owned, and operated the Ellis Hotel in Placerville, Idaho. Images within this collection include members of the Ellis family, scenes in and around Granite Creek and Placerville, and several portraits of unidentified individuals. Of particular interest are two interior shots of stores in Placerville, Idaho and a shot of the dining area of the Ellis Hotel with three Ellis daughters present in the background.

Biographical / Historical

The photographers owned and operated a railway photography studio until their rail was destroyed in a fire in 1900.
