This collection represents approximately 5000 photographs, paintings, drawings, and prints recorded in the Idaho State Historical Society Photograph Accession Ledger. The materials in this ledger span a wide range of topics, and includes many portraits and images of natural scenery, early towns and cities, and mining and logging operations in Idaho and the surrounding area. Materials represent donations to the Idaho State Historical society between 1907 and 1960.

Biographical / Historical
The Twin Falls Land and Water Company, under contract with the State of Idaho dated January 2nd,1903, agreed to construct the Milner Dam and the canal now commonly known as the Twin Falls South Side Canal; al to construct a canal on the north side of the Snake River taking water from the Milner Dam covering approximately 30,000 acres. The estimated area under the South Side Canal was 240,000 acres. The South Side Canal was fully constructed by the Twin Fall Land and Water Company, being completed about the year 1907. The construction of the North Side Canal was turned over to the Twin Falls North Side Land and Water Company. The South Side Canal was financed by the Buhl-Kimberly Corporation of Sharon, Pennsylvania, of which Mr. F. H. Buhl of Sharon, Pennsylvania, and Peter Kimberly of Chicago, Illinois, were the principal stockholders., Mr. Buhl being the principal stockholder of the company. This portrait of Mr. Buhl was procured by S. H. Hays of Boise, Idaho, and presented by him to the Idaho Historical Society
