This collection of photographic negatives were taken by Idaho State Historical Society Director H.J. Swinney between 1958 and 1961. The collection contains shots of ISHS tours, exhibits and work sites, as well as prominent Idaho landmarks.

H.J. Swinney served as Director of the Idaho State Historical Society between 1956 and 1965. During his tenure, ISHS began publication of Mountain Light, a monthly newsletter, and Idaho Yesterdays, a quarterly journal. Swinney was succeeded as director by Robert L. Damm

This collection contains multiple gaps in the alphanumeric sequence used to arrange materials (component unique identifier field). For example, 1960-100.28 has children a,b,c,d, and f - note that e is missing. At the time of writing (2023-09) the reference archivist is unable to determine whether these gaps represent missing items or errors made during the labeling process. As such, the alphanumeric string listed in the CUI field may not match the one listed on a photoboard from the Browsing Collection. OP
