Caption: "Pine, Idaho 1909. Now under the headwaters of the Anderson Ranch Reservoir, this community in 1909 was a roaring gold mining camp beginning to decline as the regional mines played out. Winteres were long but rarely very cold; deep snows, avalanches, and brilliant sunny days characterized the Southern Idaho winters in these mountains of the Boise and Sawtooth National Forests some 50 miles westsouthwest of present-day Sun Valley (?)."
