Caption: "Pine, Idaho 1909. Now under the headwaters of the Anderson Ranch Reservoir, this community in 1909 was a roaring gold mining camp beginning to decline as the regional mines played out. Winteres were long but rarely very cold; deep snows, avalanches, and brilliant sunny days characterized the Southern Idaho winters in these mountains of the Boise and Sawtooth National Forests some 50 miles westsouthwest of present-day Sun Valley (?)."

Caption: "This stage coach has pulled into Pine, Idaho in the summer of 1909, enroute between Mountain Home and the mining camps to the northeast. George Farber was the largest regional supplier of mercantile goods of the era 1890-1915."
