History
The Idaho State Board of Education was established by the Idaho Constitution of 1890 as the central governing authority for public education in the state. Originally conceived to provide broad supervision of common schools and emerging state institutions, the Board’s responsibilities expanded significantly during the twentieth century as Idaho’s educational system grew in size, complexity, and political importance.
