Material compiled by a staff member of the Idaho State Historical Society in 1980 for an Idaho State Historic Preservation Office project to locate sites related to Japanese settlements in Idaho before World War II. Included is information about Japanese businesses; questionnaires; maps of settlements and business locations; copies of mailing lists of JACL and directories of Japanese in the state; an index file of names and addresses; photographs; and various reports.

Correspondence, miscellanoues publications, drafts, and notes assembled by Mercier for a three volume publication entitled Idaho's Ethnic Heritiage.
