Biographical Note

Frank Forrester Church, the last of six children, was born July 7, 1850 in Cherryfield, Maine. He attended Cherryfield Academy and Bangor Business College. In 1871, he arrived in Placerville, Idaho, and went into the lumber business with his brother Albert.

In 1875, Frank left Idaho to study mineralogy and assaying in San Francisco. Returning to Idaho the following year, he settled in Idaho City and assumed a position at the Boise County Bank and Assay Office.

In 1881, Frank married Mary Elizabeth Barry, whose family was early pioneers in the Boise Basin. they had five children: Albert, Margaret, Frank (U.S. Senator Frank Church), Elmer, and Francis. F. F. Church died on November 27, 1922 in Boise. Mary Elizabeth died October 7, 1934 in Boise.
