Historical Note

The League of Women Voters of Nampa, Idaho, an affiliate of the National League of Women Voters, was founded in 1950 through the efforts of Elise N. Torbert. Torbert founded the Boise League of Women Voters in 1946. Open to all women of voting age, the League of Women Voters of Nampa is a nonpartisan organization working to pormote political responsibility through informed and active participation. League members work through a procedure of independent study and action to develop public understanding of local, state, and national issues.
