General Note

John David Rogge Sr. was born July 14, 1920, in Payette, Idaho. While helping Morrison Knudson to build an airbase on Wake Island, he, along with many others, was captured by the Japanese in 1941. The correspondence in the collection is mainly to and from Margery Rogge, John's mother. Rogge was released in 1945 and returned to Idaho. Rogge passed away on December 4, 2002.

This collection consists of correspondence, telegrams, newspaper articles, newsletters, photographs, and other various artifacts pertaining to the life of John D. Rogge, particularly as regards his status as a POW during World War II.
