Biographical / Historical
The Weiser Oregon Short Line Railroad Depot was built in 1907, after the old downtown of Weiser burned in 1890. This depot is the third Weiser depot. After the Union Pacific Railway went bankrupt in 1893, the railroad was then bought by the Harriman Syndicate and the Oregon Short Line (OSL) railroad was refurbished. Later in 1899, the Pacific and Idaho Northern Railroad (PIN), and their railroads were attached to the OSL, and expanded further. Council, Midvale, Cambridge, and New Meadows all sprang up near the newly built railroad stations were. This depot still exists and is listed on the National Register for Historic Places.
