This collection contains roughly 1,500 photographic prints and negatives from the estate of Murray Demetrius Badgley. Many of the images in this collection were captured by Badgley during his work for the United States Surveyor General office and include images of camping trips through the Boise National Forest, along the Payette and Salmon River area, and the Sawtooth Wilderness. Other prominent subjects include Arrowrock Dam, Yellowstone National Park, and Twin Springs, Idaho.

The vast majority of the contents are photographic negatives. These negatives were used to create photographic prints that appear in seven photo albums that are part of the collection.
