This collection represents approximately 5000 photographs, paintings, drawings, and prints recorded in the Idaho State Historical Society Photograph Accession Ledger. The materials described in this ledger span a wide range of topics, and includes many portraits and images of natural scenery, early towns and cities, and mining and logging operations in Idaho and the surrounding area. Materials represent donations to the Idaho State Historical society between 1907 and 1960.

This collection contains eight black and white photographic prints, mostly relating to political parties and elected officials in the State of Idaho. Images include members of the Idaho State Legislature. Of particular interest is an image showing legislators inside the chambers of the Idaho Territorial Capitol building.

Photos .1-.13 and .18-.19 were taken by Dr. Guy Atley who lived in St. Anthony, Idaho. He died in 1918. Photographs include Ashton, Marysville, Saint Anthony and various other unidentified locations. Photos .14-.17 were taken later, by an unknown photographer. Donated by Paul Gifford

Images are of Smylie at various campaign events, speaking engagements, and dedication ceremonies. This collection also includes several images of Richard M. Nixon at campaign stops in Idaho.

Most of the photographs were captured by mail carrier and amateur photographer Albert F. Brown of Boise, Idaho. Subjects include street views of Boise, construction projects, fairs, and rodeos. This collection also contains images of Brown's family and portraits of Brown himself.
