Collection consists of 59 color slides of the Hells Canyon Dam construction site, taken in 1966 or 1967 by Dr. Downs, company doctor and amateur photographer, as the dam was being constructed.

Biographical / Historical
Joseph C.M. Downs grew up in Boise in the 1920s-30s, served in the Navy during WWII, and went to Tufts Medical School before returning to Mountain Home, Idaho to practice medicine. He was the company doctor at the construction site when the Hells Canyon Dam was being built.
